Christmas in July
Hello. Today is the last day of the first cylcle of Glenna's trial. She spends all day at MGH being monitored. Then back tomorrow morning for a blood draw, and another on Friday morning. Then she has one week off from the pills (which means she can actually get up and eat whenever she wants!) Next Friday she begins the 2nd cycle - taking the 13 pills everyday and checking in at MGH once a week. She has been symptom free since her last episode on the cape when she came down with an intense migraine and had to go to the emergency room for pain medication. For those of you who didn't hear, she had an appointment with a brain/opthomologist/oncologist, as well as her brain radiologist and the consensus was that the smearing that's been happening in her brain has created fluid which accounts for the pain and vision problems she has had. They put her on a steroid which has helped alot. The pain is gone and her vision is better but she is still having trouble reading. She is weaning off of the steroids to see how it goes. If her symptoms come back, she will have to go back on a low dose steroid temporarily.
Other than that!, she is doing well - really well, actually, as this morning she FINALLY received the call from Will that he had just landed in Virginia and was headed to Texas!!! YEAH! Once he arrives at the base in Texas, he will find out how long he will be detained there. Hopefully he will be home-bound in about a week. Glenna is beside herself excited - as we all are. There are so many people who want to see him. We're going to let him settle in and relax for awhile and then we will be having a welcome home party and will let everyone know as soon as we've picked the date. It's so great to know he's home for good.
That's the news of the day - we will be in touch again soon. Keep your good thoughts and prayers coming our way. Love you all, MK
