August 9th

Hello again. It's been busy since last I wrote. As most of you probably know by now, Will returned home on July 28th. What a great day. Glenna arranged for a limo to arrive at the Kohl's house where many friends gathered for pictures and excitement and then packed into the limo to head to Logan Airport. We all gathered in the airport with balloons and a giant sign (thanks to Sara) to welcome him home. When he finally came through the gate, you would have thought it was the papparazzi following Brad Pitt with all the yelling and photo taking. He eventually made his way through the "reception line" and then back to the limo for a long ride HOME. There had been signs placed along the highway to Welcome Home Will. Once back at the lake, he jumped in with all his fatigues on. What a feeling that must have been! It's soooo good to have him home - I don't think Glenna has stopped smiling yet. This weekend they are going up to Maine with Peter & Haley for a few days of R&R.
Glenna is into her 2nd month of her clinical trial treatment. So far, no unexpected side effects. She was weaning off of the steroids, but recently had some headaches and vision effects again, so her doctor prescribed up-ing the dose, which has so far helped the problem. We're hoping she will eventually be able to go off of the steroids. She has about two more weeks of this treatment, and then will be scanned and tested to see how she's doing. But for now, life is good and she is happy and that means we are happy.
