October 15th - Schedule changes
Hi there - Just when you think you know what you're doing! Glenna flew down to Bethesda on Sunday - checked in and was immediately told that there would be a change in her plans. The docs explained that it has been shown that the end results are better in this treatment when the cells are grown for 2 weeks instead of 1. So Glenna had her Apheresis done this morning and an MRI done this afternoon, and tomorrow she will have a few more tests and then will be released to go home on Wed for one week. She will then return to NIH the following Wed (24th) and her treatment will begin. So everything was just put off one week - which means all flights and reservations had to be rescheduled, but if this means better results, we're all for it!
So...she will be home from Oct 17 - Oct 23 hanging out with Mary.....I'll be updating you again after we get back to Bethesda next week and keep you posted on how she's doing.
And now...the main reason I wanted to write this today was to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has been involved with the upcoming Cape Cod Marathon and all of those contributing. It's hard to just say thank you and have it mean what I want it to - but you cannot imagine how grateful we are for those of you who take the time to care and give of yourselves. Glenna's fund began as a labor of love from her friends who wanted to help. And now it has continued to grow from our friends as well. The fund has made it possible for us to travel and be with Glenna and continue our lives as stress-free as possible. The giving and caring of our friends and family is the only thing that has made this last year bearable. We thank you and we love you all.
Until later, MK
