June 10th
Hello, Sorry for the delay in writing. Things at the Kohl home are fairly stable at the moment. Glenna has continued on the steroids. Yesterday they lowered the dose a little in hopes that she can taper down and still feel OK. So far, so good. She has woken up with a slight headache the last two mornings, but it has subsided quickly. No other symptoms at the moment. We're hoping she won't have to stay on the steroids very long, but they have eased the symptoms she had and given her more energy. The most exciting thing lately is that last week she had her Hickman (chest port) removed. It has been in since early last November and has been a daily chore and general pain in the ass, so needless to say, she feels a wonderful relief having it gone. She is going to yoga on a regular basis now and really enjoys it. Jacob has been joining her and he loves it, too. She also started a dog training class with Mary. She's been doing her homework - working diligently with her. She is determined to have a well-trained dog! The heat has been tough, but Bob just put an A/C in her room, so it has become a comfortable getaway for her. Her next trip to Maryland is June 25th. Bob, Jake & I will be going down with her for one overnight. There she will have full scans and a meeting with her docs to discuss her current situation.
Last Saturday, Glenna spent the day in Newport with all her old college friends. It was reunion weekend so they all got together. She had such a great time with them. Glenna's Aunt Cathie and cousin Christine are coming to visit later this week. They both live out west and we haven't seen them for awhile. It will be great to see them both. Glenna is really looking forward to it.
Well, enough for now. Onward and upward, until the next chat.....Love you all, MK
